Origin/meaning: The sea-lock is canting (siel = lock). It was used to drain a large area. The bell symbolises the old school-bell. The school, founded in the early 18th century, was the first in the area. The original school-bell is still preserved in the modern school.

Literature : Leiner, K. : Panorama Norden. Norden, 1972.
