Origin/meaning

The village of Neuffen developed around the castle of the Lords of Neuffen in the 12th century. Neuffen received city rights around 1232. The oldest known seal dates from the late 13th century and shows the imperial eagle with the crest of the Lords of Neuffen. In the late 14th century the three horns appear on the shields and all later seals and images shoe the horns. The horns are derived from the arms of the Lords of Neuffen.

The colours, however, are the colours of Württemberg, to which the city belonged for many centuries.
