Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1948 and combine the lion of the Pfalz and the cross of Trier with the local millstone quarry and manufacturing. The village belonged to Trier since the middle of the 14th century, and the cross and millstone first appear in the 16th century seal of the town. The millstone also appears alone on a 15th century seal. The lion of the Pfalz was added as the city nowadays belongs to the Pfalz.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
