Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 24, 1957. The older arms, shown below, were not officially granted, but were used by the city prior to 1957.

Wappen von Niederstetten

Niederstetten received city rights in 1340 from Emperor Ludwig of Bayern. The oldest seals date from the late 16th century and already show a composition of a walled city with in the gate the arms of the Lords of Rosenberg, vassals of the city for the Bishops of Würzburg. In 1632 new vassals were appointed, but the composition of the arms remained unchanged.
