NITTENAU

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Schwandorf (until 1973 Roding)
Additions: 1945 Bergham; 1971 Bodenstein (1945 Treidling), Stefling (1945 Hof am Regen), Untermainsbach (1949 Plitting); 1972 Bleich (1949 Neuhaus), Kaspeltshub; 1978 Fischbach

Wappen von Nittenau/Arms (crest) of Nittenau
Official blazon
German Geteilt; oben in Gold ein bewurzelter, in zwei Stämme auseinanderstrebender grüner Segelbaum, unten die bayerischen Rauten.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1468 by Duke Otto II of Bayern and the Pfalz.

In the original description the tree in the upper half is described as a juniper tree (Segelbaum or Sadebaum, Juniperus sabina). The original image and all later images shoe, however, a non-specific tree. The above image is based on the original image. The meaning or origin of the tree is not known. The lower half shows the arms of Bayern.
Except for the shape and size of the tree, the arms have not changed since.
