Region : Catalonia
Province : Lleida

Escudo de Oliola/Arms (crest) of Oliola
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat: de porpra, una gerra oliera d'or de la boca de la qual ix una olivera de sinople fruitada de sable. Per timbre una corona de baró.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms have been officially granted on 27th December 1995.

The arms show a big earthenware jar and an olive branch. The village has been a main producer of olive oil since many centuries and the name is also derived from the Catalan word for oil (Oli). The jar is used to store the oil.
The baron's crown at the top of the arms reminds that Oliola was the centre of a barony in the county of Urgell since the 12th century.
