OLLEY

Département : Meurthe-et-Moselle

Blason de Olley

Official blason

  • (fr) D'argent à la lampe à huile de gueules enflammée d'or; au chef d'azur chargé de deux quarte-feuilles d'or, feuillées de même et boutonnées de gueules.

Origin/meaning

The arms show an oil lamp, based on the (wrong) etymology of the name, which supposedly was derived from huile (oil). The two flowers in chief also are rapeseed flowers, a plant commonly used for making oil.
