Armoiries de Palézieux

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms of Palézieux are identical to those of the medieval Lords of Palézieux, who ruled the village in the 12th and 13th century. The village itself was founded besides the castle Palézieux by the successors of the Lords of Palézieux, the Lords of Billens, in the 14th century. They also granted the city rights in 1344, which were abolished by the new rulers, the Lords of Gruyères at the end of the 14th century.

The arms have been used by the village since the 19th century.
