Escudo de Palau de Santa Eulàlia

Official blazon

Escut caironat, d'or, un palau de sable obert sobremuntat d'un capel d'ardiaca de sable i d'un sautor de gules, l'un damunt l'altre. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 10th October 1995.

The arms are canting: they show a "palau" (Catalan for "palace"). The municipality is formed by two main villages: Santa Eulàlia de Palau, the present-day chief town (represented by the saltire or cross of St. Eulalia, the local patron saint), and Palau Sardiaca, the historic chief town (represented by an archdeacon hat, because the name of the village means literally Archdeacon's Palace), that gave its name to the municipality until the 14th century.
