Wappen von Perleberg/Arms (crest) of Perleberg
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms are already shown on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from the early 14th century. The arms have not changed since.

The meaning of the arms is not quite clear. The arms show a large pearl (a canting element, Perle=pearl), with a star pointing to 8 other pearls. This may symbolise that Perleberg was the main city in the area, with the 8 other pearls the other 8 cities in the area.
