PERNINK
Province: Karlovarský Kraj
District (Okres) : Karlovy Vary
Czech
Origin/meaningIn the 16th century Jindrich Šlik founded this mining settlement in the west part of Krusne Hory, next to the silver and tin ore deposits. In 1332 this settlement became a Townlet and in 1559 it was promoted by King Ferdinand I to the status of a Mining Town. The coat-of-arms, granted at the same time shows on the right half a pair of miner's tools and below that a hammer crossed with a goldwasher's rake. The tower refers to the town itself, the small shield shows the arms of the Šlik family. The climbing bear is a canting element for the German name of the town, Bärringen (bear-rings).
