Origin/meaning

The arms are known since 1501 as the composition appears on the oldest known seal. The antler is taken from the arms of Württemberg, the pillow (or Pfühl) is a canting element. At first the field was red. Later in the 17th century the antler was placed separately in a chief. After the granting of city rights in 1699, the colour was changed into blue. The chief was again removed in 1934 when the present arms were granted.
