Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a white disc edged with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) white border a yellow sword in bend between a scarlet star in sinister chief and a yellow star and blue star in dexter base, all encircled by a ultramarine blue designation band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border and inscribed “PIKE COUNTY” at top and “HIGH SCHOOLS” at bottom in white letters. The overall dimension is 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height and 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width consisting of a shield blazoned: “Or, three bends: Argent charged with a sword of the first between Azure above bearing a mullet of the first and Gules below charged with two mullets Or. Attached below the shield an arcing Gold scroll inscribed “WORTH DIGNITY POTENTIAL” in Blue letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Red, white and blue reflect the national colors and signify pride and patriotism. The sword is indicative of leadership. The stars represent the three county schools participating in the ROTC program and are positioned relative to their geographic location within the county; each school’s primary color is reflected by the corresponding star.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Red, white and blue reflect the national colors and signify pride and patriotism. The sword suggests the military science program. The three stars represent the three county schools participating in the ROTC program.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and the Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved 10 January 1990 for all Pike County High Schools.
