Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city (German name Prausnitz), known from the 14th century. The eagle is taken from the arms of Silezia, the meaning of the hand is not known. It may be a symbol of justice, or taken from the arms of some local family. Hupp showed the arms with the eagle with red beak and claws, see below.
