Official blazon
German In Rot auf grünem Boden eine flugbereite gold-bewehrte silberne Gans.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 10, 1992.

Putlitz is already known from the 10th century as a possession of the Bishops of Havelberg. It was since the 13th century for a long time a loan of the Lords of Putlitz from the Gans family, whose arms were a canting goose. In 1319 Putlitz was first mentioned as a city. The oldest seal of the city dates from the 14th century (known from 1361) and already show a goose. All later seals also show a goose; the arms thus have not changed since.
