Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 6, 1935.

The arms are based on the old seal of the court of Volberg. The municipality is comprises most of the old jurisdiction of Volberg. Volberg was part of the County of Berg, and thus the upper part of the arms shows the lion of Berg. The lower part (a hunting horn) probably symbolises the rich forests in the area.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
