Wappen von Rastenberg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show St. Wenesclaus, the patron saint of the diocese of Naumburg, to which the city historically belonged. The saint already appeared on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1460. As the town received city rights (and the right for its own seal) in 1378 it is expected that the arms date from that year as well.
