Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 14, 1978.

The letters A and V stand for Amt Vlmet (Ulmet), the historical area the municipality belonged to. The miner's tools symbolise the former mercury mining in the area. The crescent is taken from a document from 1748, where the local council signed with a crescent as a symbol.
