Origin/meaning

The arms are the former arms of Vahto, used since the merger in 2009.

The previous arms were officially granted on June 10, 1964.

The crosier refers to the first bishop of Turku/Åbo, which was born in Finland, Bishop Magnus I (1291-1308), who was born in the village. The sun is a canting element, as rus-ko could mean the red sky during sunrise or sunset.
