State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Viersen (until 1974 Kempen-Krefeld)
Incorporated into : 1970 Viersen
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1922.
The arms are based on the old seal of the town, dating from the 15th century. A later seal, from 1597 shows the same composition. As no colours were known, the colours of the County Jülich were chosen, as the town historically belonged to Jülich.
