Wappen von Süderstapel/Arms (crest) of Süderstapel
Official blazon
German In Blau ein aufrechter, kurzer, oben und unten mit einem Knauf abschließender, in der Mitte sich verdickender goldener Stab, der mit seiner unteren Hälfte drei silberne Wellenfäden überdeckt.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 8, 1993.

The main symbol in the arms is a kind of staff locally known as the 'Mörserkeule', which symbolises the fact that the municipality used to be a place of a court. It is taken from the arms of the seal of the former Landscape (Landschaft) Stapelhorn. It is also the main symbol in the arms of Amt Stapelholm. See also the arms of Norderstapel. The three wavy bars represent the three rivers Eider, Treene and Sorge. The colours are the colours of Schleswig.
