Origin/meaning

The red mountain of fire with the black cloud of smoke indicates the former volcanoes, which through their activity supplied the whole area with lava and pumice and are the main livelihoods of the population.

The silver organ pipes and the silver palm branch are taken from an old seal from 1784, which shows ST. Cecilia as the church patroness of Saffig. In one hand she carries an organ as a symbol for church music, in the other hand she holds a palm branch as a symbol of her martyrdom.
