Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a disk shaped embroidered device 3 1/8 inches (7.94 cm) in diameter blazoned as follows: “A hurt (Teal Blue) overlaid by a Manta Ray bendwise Sable, surmounted by a Latta Stone Silver Gray with the Manta’s tail curled back over the base of the stone.” Arched around the hurt, a White scroll inscribed “SAIPAN SOUTHERN HS” in Black letters, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) border of the last.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure (Teal Blue) with irregular lines and details bendwise sinister a Latta Stone Gray, overall two Manta Rays naiant to dexter Sable. Between the shield and scroll is a base metal demi-sun in splendor. Arching below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed “SAIPAN SOUTHERN” in base metal letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Teal Blue, black and white is the school’s colors. The Manta Ray is the school’s mascot. The Latta Stone recalls the traditions of the archipelago.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Teal, black and white are the school’s colors. The background represents the ocean that surrounds the island. The Manta Ray is the school’s mascot. The Latta Stone recalls the traditions of the archipelago.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 1 February 2006.
