Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 14, 1998.

The arms were based on the design of a medieval glass-window in the church of St. Ruprecht. St. Ruprecht (or Rupert) is one of the patron saints of the Archdiocese of Salzburg. The crosier is one of his attributes.
