Official blazon

Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 22nd September 1995.

The keys are the attribute of St. Peter, the local patron saint; the name Santpedor is an evolution of Sant Pere d'Or (being Or the name of the river that flows through the town). The arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or) remind the royal jurisdiction over the town, that had the privilege to send a representative to the Catalan parliament and was a "street of Barcelona" (a town with the same rights that the capital city), by concession of Martin I in 1400.
