SCHEFFAU AM TENNENGEBIRGE

State : Salzburg
District : Hallein

Wappen von Scheffau am Tennengebirge

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 4, 1971.

The ram is a canting symbol. The name was first mentioned in 1250 as Scheffawe (Schaf=sheep). The green colour indicates the rich nature surrounding the village. The cross is a symbol for the Chapter of the Salzburg Cathedral (Domkapittel), which owned most of the territory in the municipality.
