Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 11, 2008.

The arms show the Stremme river.

The small escutcheon shows the local Eichberg (oak-hill) and a rose. Both refer to the local legend on Frau Harke. She was a witch and was against the fact that the people became Christian and built churches. She thus loaded her skirt full of sand and flew into the direction of Schlagenthin to destory the church. However, just befor the village her skirt broke and the sand formed the Eichberg.

The old seal of the village, used until the 1950s, showed a watermill wheel in the Stremme river.
