SEEWALCHEN AM ATTERSEE

State : Oberösterreich
District : Vöcklabruck

Arms of Seewalchen am Attersee

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 3, 1976.

The cross symbolises the long Christian tradition in the area. The village was mentioned as a parish in 1135, belonging to the diocese of Passau, which had given the village in loan to the Michaelbeuern Abbey. The waves symbolise the Attersee lake which borders the village and which is a canting element. The combination of cross and waves was based on the arms of the seal of the Abbott of the Michaelbueren Abbey Maurus Riha (1933-1969).
