Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
SILBERTAL
State : Vorarlberg
District : Bludenz
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 12, 1964.
The upper half is based on the arms of the Swiss canton of Wallis, as the village was settled by farmers from Wallis. The base shows a hammer for the former silver mining in the area. The key is taken from the arms of the Montafon valley, in which the village is situated.
