Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1901.

The origin or meaning of the duck's foot is not clear. The symbol was already used on the border stones surrounding the village in the 18th century. Whether it really was a duck's foot or simply a fork-like symbol is not known. In any case the oldest seal of the village, known from 1760, as well as all later seals show a shield with a foot. In 1901 the colours of Baden were chosen, as no historical colours were known.
