Origin/meaning

The arms show an Roman eagle holding a shield, representing the Roman origins of the town (that seems to be named after its fundator, the roman soldier Titus Quintius Flamininus -> Ex Quintianus -> Squinzano). On the shield there is a lion coming out of a forest. The forest, as in various other civic arms of the area, represents Lecce (the town capital of the province), and the lion represents the courage of the people from Squinzano in freeing themselves, during the middle ages, from the feudal domain of Lecce, thus becoming an autonomous "comune".
