The red tower is a canting element, the name means stone-castle. The municipality was created in 1978 and the namewas derived from a legend which stated that in the local forest there was a castle of a robber-knight. Whether there has been a real castle is not clear. It has been speculated that there has been a castle Nannendorf until 1349, but no evidence remains. | |||

Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 31, 1989.
The red tower is a canting element, the name means stone-castle.
