Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 7, 1985.

The chequered bend is the symbol of the Cistercian Order, as the village was a possession of the Cistercian monastery of Bildhausen from 1156-1803. The crosier and the bend both formed part of the arms of the monastery. The sun symbolises the period around 1770, when the village and the monastery were very prosperous under Abbot Bonifacius, who was nicknamed the Abbot of the Sun.

The chief shows four crosses, the so-called Swedish Crosses, which are monuments for the 30-years war and the Swedish troops that were in the area. The colours are the Swedish colours.
