Origin/meaning

The arms of the trown (German name Gross Wartenberg) are based on the image of the oldest known seal, dating from 1377. All later seals show the hunter and stars, but the size, shape and colours have varied widely, as can be seen on the image of Hupp below. Only the black shield was not changed.
