Origin/meaning

The oldest seal of the town, dating from the early 15th century, shows a canting composition of two pine trees (Tannen) on a mountain (Berg), with in between the quartered arms of Pfalz-Bayern. The above arms are shown for the first time on a seal dating from the late 16th century, where the trees are replaced by undescribed leaf trees, and the shield is simplified to the arms of Bayern only. Also the two small flowers, of unknown origin, were added.
