UBIRAJARA

State : São Paulo

Arms of Ubirajara
Official blazon
Portuguese blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 30, 1973.

The Indian headgear and crossed darts are canting: Ubirajara means "Masters of the Lance" and it is an Indian nation which stood where now the city stands; its warriors fought with darts, thrown with notable skillfulness. The cross Calvary and the wavy bar evoke the cross erected by the banks of the Cagador river when the village was founded and the flames symbolize the Holy Spirit, patron of the city.

The supporters, a branch of coffee tree and a branch of blackberry tree with silkworm cocoons, show that coffee and silk are important products of the region.

The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city.
