Official blason

I blått fält en bojort av guld med beslagna segel, flytande på en av vågskura bildad stam av silver. Bojorten har en naturfärgad svensk flagga på masttoppen och en i aktern.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in the 1940s.

The arms are based on the letters patent of 1644 which granted town rights to Vänersborg. The actual design was only determined in the 1940s.
