VERÖCE PROVINCE

Arms of Veröce Province

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted by Maria Theresia, and verified by the imperial and royal office in Vienna on 16th May 1746.

The arms are based on the historical coat of arms of the Kingdom of Slavonia- a marten passant between two white bars - symbolising rivers Drava and Sava, adding an anchor for differentiation, as a symbol of hope and fidelity. The modern Virovotica and Podravina province in Croatia, after briefly adopting a simplified arms, returned to the original design in 1996.
