Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 11, 1983.
The bordure is the common symbol of all Verbandsgemeinde in de Bad Dürkheim district. The four municipalities in the Verbandsgemeinde wanted to be represented with (elements of) their arms in the arms of the Verbandsgemeinde. The lion and W represent the town of Wachenheim, the image of St. Martin represents Gönnheim, the tree is taken from the arms of Ellerstadt and the castle from Friedelsheim.
The colours of some of the elements have been changed to create a more heraldically correct shield. The upper part shows two vines and a bunch of grapes, indicating that viticulture is the main source of income in the area.
