Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show a boar, which is derived from the word Vor, or a lean piglet. The boar probably was used ad a symbol for the city already in the 15th century, but the oldest known seal dates from the 17th century. The seal showed the boar on a filed (Felde) and the arms thus have not changed since.
