Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1957.

The arms are basically canting, a tree for the woods (Wald=wood) and the small brook Bröl. The plough iron is a symbol for the agriculture in the area and the lion is the lion of the counts of Berg. The lion of the counts of Berg indicates the fact that the village became in the Middle Ages part of the Amt Windeck of the county Berg.Hupp showed the arms in the 1920s with the lion in the upper half and in the lower half the arms of the Amt Windeck, a knight:
