Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 7, 1961.
The arms are the arms of the Lords of Schwarzenburg who built the large castle of the same name in the district, and who ruled over most of the district in the 13th century. As the colours were no longer known, the colours of Bayern were chosen.
