The Badge is based on the Arms of Tjerk Hiddes de Vries (1622-1666). Admiral of the Frisian Admirality. Saw action in many Sea Battles, and was Killed in Action on 6 August 1666 in the Two Day Battle against the English. The Badge was approved on 11 June 1963.
