ZR.MS. VAN NES, NETHERLANDS NAVY

History: The Name was used by a Frigate in service 1967-1988, and later by a Frigate in service 1994-2007 (sold to Portugal as Bartolomeu Dias).

Vier kwartier: I. in sabel frie molenijzers van zilver, staande 2:1; II. i zilver driw Sr. Antoniskrukken van sabel, staande 2:1; III in goud drie klossen van keel, staande 2:1; IV. in azuur drie eendjes van zilver, staande 2:1, keel gebekt en gepoot.

Origin/meaning

The badge is based on the arms of Aert van Nes (1620-1693), Admiral of the maas Admirality, who served with distinction in the wars between 1652 to 1674. The badge was approved on 11 June 1963.
