Official blazon

  • (de) In Blau über einer schwarzgefugten sil­bernen Stadtmauer, in deren offenem Tor ein doppelschwänziger goldgekrönter und goldbewehrter silberner Löwe steht, zwei doppelschwänzige goldgekrönte und goldbe­ wehrte silberne Löwen.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on Janaury 9, 1964.

The three lions are taken from the old seal and arms of the Amt Berus. The wall refers to the city rights from 1591, the village, however, never developed into a proper city and had no walls.
