L'ISLE

Canton : Vaud

Armoiries de L'Isle

Official blazon

Parti d'argent et d'azur, à la bordure d'or.

Origin/meaning

The current arms were adopted in 1928 and replaced the previous arms from 1896.

The divided shield are the arms of the Barony of Cossonay, to which the area belonged until 1472. The colours, however, are reversed. The 1896 arms showed three wavy bars over the arms, symbolising the many waterways in the area. These were replaced by the golden bordure in 1928.
