Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1982.

The fish refer to the three lakes thet used to be in the municipality as fish ponds of the Marienstatt Abbey. The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Sayn, to which the area historically belonged. The cross is taken from the arms of the Lords of Greifenstein.
