The upper half shows the canting arms of Palau-solità, also named La Sagrera: a "palau" with a "pala" on top (Catalan for "palace" and "shovel, spade" respectively), and the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or) reminding the royal jurisdiction over the council.
