Origin/meaning

I have no information on the origin or meaning of these arms. Any information is welcome.

Colonial arms

During colonial times the city used the arms below. The arms were first adopted on November 7, 1927 and again on October 14, 1930.

The initial arms showed a kind or a mural crown, which was not acceptable by the Dutch Court of Arms. The city then adopted the common crown for all cities.

The arms show a divided shield with the two main crops in the area, rice and tea.
