Origin/meaning

The star is the image of the Most Holy Virgin, under the protection of which Mgr. Parent is placed. The Maple leaves have a typically Canadian meaning. The wreath of wheat is a symbol of unity and attachment to the ground.

The motto Ut sint unum (That they may be one) is taken from the priestly prayer of Jesus, after the last Supper (John 17:11).
